Re: Get back to work!
Tue, August 24, 2004 - 7:19 PMPay no attention to the charlatan in the white lab coat. His lazy proclomations lack the weight of scholarly research--they are but the befuddled maunderings of a solipsistic, goldbricking opium fiend.
And, as to our aquatic canine's comment that I am a slave driver? Perish the thought. Tut tut--bad economics, my fishy* friend. Of course slavery is profitable to slave owners. But this requires a government-supported system that helps confiscate the fruits of the slaves’ labor. Since slave labor is inherently less efficient than free labor, and since so many resources have to be devoted to enforcing the system – most of which are the result of government interventions such as the Fugitive Slave Acts, mandatory slave patrol laws, and laws that prohibited manumission – the system imposes huge burdens ("dead weight loss," in the language of economics) on the rest of society.
No, bad show. Low motivation factor in the workplace. It's so much easier to pen people up in cubicles and give them free coffee. Cheaper, too.
All right, then. Enough about economics. Back to work!
*fishy, of course, is meant as pure just, as true sharks are somewhat different. Unlike bony fish, sharks have no bones; their skeleton is made of cartilage, which is a tough, fibrous substance, not nearly as hard as bone. Sharks also have no swim bladder (unlike bony fish). -

Re: i will never sell my squalene
Wed, August 25, 2004 - 9:38 AMPerhaps if you assembled a sales force with quarterly and annual goals and passed out little flags, perhaps, or helium ballons, upon reaching certain goals you sell some. Never give up, my little cartilaginous chum!
Heh-heh. "Chum." That's a pun. You may laugh, now. -

Fri, August 27, 2004 - 6:21 AMYeah, that's the problem with 911: violent counter-cultural revolutions just aren't _fun_ anymore.

Re: i will never sell my squalene
Fri, August 27, 2004 - 2:49 PMYou are all quite too serious. Isn't it time one of you made a run to Starbucks for the office? You can use the time away to calm down and reflect, and if that doesn't work you can always spit in their drink. -
