Yeah, I know you've always been somewhat alt-y. And I did notice that you put your real full name up... or at least I figured that was the case from the last name initial, since I'm currently two degrees away from you in tribe terms.

I don't really care if people know my real name. Since I have a website that clearly states my real name, and I link to that from my tribe profile, anyone can quickly and easily figure out who I am.

I'm more curious about those who once a consistent real first name, or a unique moniker, and then changed that after the unfortunate incident. How does getting booted change one's relationship to the tribe community? Why would someone wish to obscure their identity after being involuntarily unsubscribed, especially if the booting was considered unfair? If it happened to me, I'd re-create the same profile with the same information, to try to maintain continuity.

My "real" identity on tribe is not the sweet little used-to-be-an-altar-boy that my parents know.

We're all alts.

Especially when our names and faces change regularly (or have the potential to).

When they came for the pornographers, I didn't speak up becuase I wasn't a pornographer.
When they came for the assholes, I didn't speak up becuase I wasn't an asshole.
When they came for the alts, I didn't speak up becuase I wasn't an alt.
When they came for the electronic musicians, there was no one left to speak for me....

There was also a Japanese CD with the title "Dr. Yo" -- I don't remember the artist. I should have bought it.

Of course, I could do a Google search on "the Other Michael," but I'll leave that for someone with more time on their hands.
